William Dewayne “Bear” Griffis, 69, of Fargo passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2025, at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Ware County to the late William Griffis and Rosa Myree Carter Parrish. Mr. Griffis lived in Fargo since 1989 and worked at Brockway for forty years. He was a member of the Higher Heights Christian Fellowship in Fargo. Mr. Griffis always enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, collecting cast iron, and drawing.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sheila Lynn Peplinski, Cheryl Murray, and Lucetta Murray; one brother, Arland Griffis.
Survivors include his wife of nearly thirty-six years, Kathy Taylor Griffis of Fargo; son, David Taylor and his wife Kelly of Macclenny, FL; daughter, Angie Crews of Fargo; five grandchildren, Kyleigh Taylor, Ella Taylor, Daiquiri Lofton, Brayden Lofton, and Avery Hayes; seven great-grandchildren; step-father, Jimmy Parrish of Pearson; sister, Jenell Steedley of Manor; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon, August 9, 2025, at 2 pm at Higher Heights Christian Fellowship in Fargo with Rev. Audie Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Fargo Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 pm until 2 pm at Higher Heights Christian Fellowship.
