Violet Joann Pla Caldwell, 84, of Homerville passed away Friday, June 10, 2026, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House after a short illness. She was born in Manor, GA to the late Harold Frances Hines and Martha Wilson Hines. Mrs. Caldwell lived in the Tampa, FL area most of her life where she was High Priestess of the Lady Oriental Shriners, a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, VFW, and the AMVET. Her symbol was an owl, she loved arts and crafts and collected anything small especially tea pots, angels, and owls.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by first husband, William Terry Pla, and her second husband, Albert Caldwell; two daughters, Deliah Ann Morgan and Linda Johnson; two sisters, Patsy Dukes and Margaret Boiter; three brothers, George Hines, Buddy Hines, and John Zbiegien.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo Rhinehardt (spouse Sharon) of Homerville, and Cheri Pla Wight (husband Ron) of Deltona, FL; two sons, David O’Neal Morris of Homerville, and Larry Dwayne Zbiegien of Canton, GA; four grandsons, Jonathan, Jeremy, Billy, and Todd; four granddaughters, Katie, Carrie, Jessica, and Ashtyn; one brother, Johnny Hines of Jacksonville, FL; two nieces, Jackie Marie Colburn Sutton and Tammy Dukes Frasier Embrey and also loved by many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1 pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
