Richard Tyler Clifton, 50, of Cumming, GA passed away Thursday morning, March 10, 2022, from an extended illness after being cared for by his wife of twenty years. Tyler was born December 28, 1971, in Sanford, FL. He graduated from Valdosta High School in 1988 and Valdosta State University in 1994. Mr. Clifton was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at VSU. From the time he was a boy, Tyler worked hard at everything he did. He always took pride in his work, and he finished his career as a Project Director for Ansco and Associates in Atlanta. Tyler always enjoyed life to the fullest! He loved being outdoors, where he especially liked hiking, golfing, and fishing, and he loved spending time with family and friends. He was always happy and had a smile for everyone. To know Tyler was to love him.
Tyler is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Barney and Olivia Register Clifton, of Homerville; maternal grandparents, L.C. and Evelyn Lord Croft, of Berlin; an uncle, Jimmy Clifton, two aunts, Diane Hall and Peggy Clifton Rogers.
Tyler is survived by his loving wife, Molly Phlinda Holton Clifton, of Cumming; his daughter, Anna Kate Clifton, of Cumming; his father, Wayne and Betsy Clifton of Homerville; his mother, Lisa and Max Crapps of Cairo; three step sisters, Melissa Crapps and Claire Crapps, both of Tallahassee, FL, and Holly Mullis, of Homerville. Also surviving Tyler are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Tyler leaves behind many special friends who showered him with love over the past two years, especially the SAE fraternity and little sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 2 pm at the Homerville United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valdosta Humane Society 1740 W Gordon St, Valdosta, GA 31601 due to Tyler and Wayne’s love of animals.
