Shirley Smith

Shirley Marie Young Smith, 75, of Manor passed away Monday morning, July 18, 2022, at Harborview Pierce County after an extended illness. She was born in Ware County to the late Barney and Myrtice Young and lived in Ware County all of her life. Mrs. Smith was a 1964 graduate of Manor High School and worked for Friendly Express for thirty years. She was a member of Zenith Baptist Church and loved working in her flowers and especially loved her dog, Mattie.  

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a loving mother, Mae Thompson; four sisters, Wanda Nation, Reba Sweat, Jessie Henderson, and Connie Houseman; three brothers, Henry Thompson, J.W. Thompson, and John Thompson.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 58 years, Ellison Deloach Smith of Manor; one daughter, Sherry Barnes (husband Barry) of Manor; one son, Calvin Smith (Ivy Kaye) of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Ashley Frazier (husband Daniel) of Valdosta, and Cody Barnes of Manor; one great-grandson, James Frazier of Valdosta; one brother, Jack Thompson of Manor; a cousin that was like a sister, Peggy Guinn of Manor; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, July 20, 2022, at 11 am at Victory Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Victory Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning beginning at 10 am at the church.
