Sara Juanita Dampier Register passed away on April 20, 2025 after an extended illness. She was born in Clinch County on September 12, 1942 to the late John H. Dampier and Juanita Smith Dampier, formerly of Dupont, GA and Jacksonville, FL.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Dampier Robinson; brother, John L. Dampier; brother-in-law, Edward E. Robinson; sister-in-law, Minnie Dampier; great-grandson, Cason Knox; grandparents, Lawrence L. “Laurie” Smith, Eva Eunice Smith, John H. Dampier, and Georgia Cox Dampier.

Sara is survived by her best friend and love of her life of almost 65 years, Walter Reid Register. Her children include daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Chris Karle of Blackshear, daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Ricky Johnson of Homerville, and son and daughter-in-law, Walt and Carla Register of Homerville. Her grandchildren include Jeffrey Karle, Jacob Karle, Kristy Brightwell and husband Jay, Mark Karle, Kayley May and husband Ryan, Alexa Bruorton and husband Davis, Kelsey Bosch and husband Taylor, Nick Johnson and wife Harley, Landon Register, Tiffany Knox and husband Chris, Ashley Goldman and husband Eric. Her great grandchildren include Leo Brightwell, Nova May, Archer May, Caroline Bruorton, Sara Bruorton, Blair Johnson, Bindy Johnson, Lena Bosch, Marissa Colburn, Chelsea Jewell, Zane Jewell, JJ Chappell, Zach Chappell, and Kathryn Goldman. Her great-great grandchildren include Ian Colburn, Dax Jefferson and Dex Jefferson. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Carlos Whitley, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Louise Register, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Phyllis and Roy Crumbley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janelle and Arnold James, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members that she loved dearly.

Sara grew up in Dupont and moved to Homerville after her marriage. She was a graduate of Clinch County High. In her early married life Sara worked at Clinch Memorial Hospital. She later worked with First Baptist Church Kindergarten and later became the first 4-H Program Assistant for Clinch County. She retired from the Clinch County School System as a secretary. Sara was a very talented and creative person. She loved trying new things and enjoyed different types of crafts throughout her life. She made and painted ceramics and sewed beautiful dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She was an artist and painted murals at several homes, churches and schools including First Baptist Church nursery, Shiloh Congregational Methodist Church, and the Old Homerville Elementary School in Homerville. She also painted many pictures on canvas featuring local scenery. Sara loved to travel and was always up for a “road trip” including trips to the beach and mountains. She enjoyed having fun with her family and friends, riding her golf cart, watching the birds in her backyard and colorful flowers. She loved being a grandmother and Great-grandmother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clinch Retired Educators Association, The Homerville Red Hat Divas, and The Eastern Star.

A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon, April 25, 2025, at 3 pm at the Homerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Carter and Rev. Gene Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in North Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon beginning at 2 pm at Homerville United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Chris Karle, Ricky Johnson, Jeff Karle, Jacob Karle, Landon Register, Nicolas Johnson.

The family request the Homerville Red Hat Divas to serve as Honorary Pallbearers and should meet at the church by 2:40 Friday for the service.
