Rubin Lee "Doodle" Griffis, Jr.

Mr. Rubin Lee “Doodle” Griffis, Jr., 69, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, following an extended illness, surrounded by his family.

Doodle was born in Homerville, GA on July 25, 1954, to the late Rubin Lee (Bill) Griffis, Sr. and Marie Tiner Griffis of Argyle. He had lived in Argyle most of his life and was a truck driver for 41 years, hauling loads across the U.S. After retiring from trucking, he worked for Lee Mattox at Mattox Blueberries  

In his younger days, Doodle took joy in breaking and riding horses. As he grew older, he found a new joy in riding his motorcycle and the freedom of the open road.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and two sisters, Wanda Pope and Teresa Smith.

Survivors are one daughter: Kayla Griffis, Homerville: two grandchildren: Braxtyn Smith and Aliyah Smith; three sisters: Penny Crumbley (Donald), Waycross, Robin Griffis, Argyle and Billie Sue Godwin, Waycross; two brothers: Daryl Griffis (Roxane), Argyle and Ricky Griffis (Peggy), Homerville and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated, honoring his desire for a simple and private memorial to scatter his ashes.
