Richard John Carlsen, Jr.

Richard John Carlsen, Jr., 64, of Homerville, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, at UF Health in Gainesville, Florida, following a short illness. He was born in Homerville to the late Richard J. Carlsen, Sr. and Vida Strickland Carlsen and lived in Homerville all his life. He was a 1980 graduate of Clinch County High School and worked as a truck driver. Mr. Carlsen worked for many years with Mac Foresty. He was a member of Homerville Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and watching races.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Beulah Strickland.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lucinda “Cindy” Wallace Carlsen of Homerville; one daughter, Amy Renee Carlsen of Homerville; two grandchildren, Paizley Rae Blevins and Peyton Wayne Delk; one brother, Ronald Mitchell Carlsen (Debra Futch) of Homerville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Darlene Wallace of Atlanta, Darlene and Lee Arnold of Homerville, Barbara Jean and John Albert Morgan of Homerville, and Anita Baggett of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Friday morning, July 17, 2026, at 11 am at Homerville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers at Mac Foresty and are asked to meet at the church by 10:40 am Friday morning for the service.
