Rev. Jimmy Futch

Rev. James “Jimmy” Edward Futch, 78, of Homerville passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Homerville on June 30, 1947 to the late Jessie Warren Futch and Minnie Lee Roe Futch. Rev. Futch lived in Clinch County most of his life and spent a great amount of that time fishing in the Okefenokee Swamp and the Suwannee River. He grew up being drug to church by his Granny Deb. Granny Deb became a huge influence over his life’s future path. Rev. Futch began pastoring in 1983 and served in many churches in the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Association and currently was pastoring Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one son, James Matthew Futch; one grandson, Levin Pafford.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Wanda Lanora Gilley Futch of Homerville; two daughters and son-in-law, Robyn and Ricky Smith of Homerville, Donna Stewart of Axson; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Jessica Futch of Homerville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma Jean and Darrell Wilson of Waycross, Debra Davis and Mitch Carlsen of Homerville; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Carol Futch of Homerville; sister-in-law, Carolyn Sherrod of Homerville; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, October 23, 2025, at 2 pm at Shiloh Church. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
