Penelope "Penny" Hughes Smith

Mrs. Penelope Sue “Penny” Hughes Smith, 60, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Crestwood Circle, Valdosta, surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness. Mrs. Smith was born, October 22, 1959, in Valdosta, GA to Lee Tutt Hughes and the late George L. “Buck” Hughes. She worked as the Human Resources Specialist at Mauser (B-Way) for 44 years and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors other than her mother are her husband: J. C. Smith, Jr.; one daughter: Kaitlin Smith; one son: Jacob Smith, all of Homerville; one sister: Leanne Guest, Brinson, GA; one brother and sister-in-law: George G. & Kalynn Hughes, Homerville; five nieces and nephews: Elizabeth (Al) Jordan, Nathaniel (Melissa) Hendley, Halee Hughes, B.J. (Megan) Guest and Karlee Guest; six great nieces and nephews: Krystin Jordan(John Gray), Justin Jordan, Miles Guest, Rita-Gail Aldridge, Ruth Guest and Greer Hughes and a number of other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at two o’clock at the Trinity Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Fargo Memorial Cemetery, Fargo, GA. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 1, 2020 from one till two p.m. at the church.
