Williiam Mitchell Smith, 45, of Homerville passed away early Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026, at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Homerville to Benny Smith and the late Brenda Stalvey Selph. Mitchell lived in Homerville all of his life and graduated from Clinch County High School in 2000. He was a Welder by trade and worked for Brooks Welding for several years. He was very tech savvy, loved playing video games, liked to always tinker and was mechanically inclined. Most of all Mitchell was always loving, kind, and very humble.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Stalvey Selph.

Survivors include his father, Benny Smith of Homerville; three sisters and brother-in-law, Lisa Roberts of Homerville, Candy Smith of Homerville, and Crystal Peterson (Winston) of Homerville; maternal grandmother, Margaret Moody of Homerville; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1 pm at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
