Mavis Petty Trowell

April 4, 1941 — January 2, 2022

Mavis Lynette Petty Trowell, 80, of Homerville passed away Sunday evening (Jan. 2, 2022) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness. She was born in the Haylow community of Echols County to the late Zekie and Rocky Steedley Petty. Mrs. Trowell worked for Concerted Services from 1971 until 2004 with thirty-three years of service. After retirement, she worked at Roundtree Funeral Home and later at Acme Drugs. She was a member of Shiloh Church and kept the nursery for over twenty years and was also a member of the Exchange Club.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Trowell and two brothers, Felton Petty and Mickey Petty.

Survivors include two children, Diane Thrift and husband Eddie of Waycross, and Freddie Lee Trowell, Jr. of Madison, FL; two grandchildren, Trey Thrift of Panama City, FL and Christina Trowell of Dublin, GA; her friend, Donnie Lieupo of Homerville; one sister, Linda Rawls and her husband Jimmy of DuPont; one brother, Kenneth Petty and his wife Shelby Jean of Crosby, MS; sister-in-law, Lois Petty of Crosby, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon, January 6, 2022 at 2 pm at Shiloh Cemetery.
