Madge T. Byington, of Homerville, GA, died on August 2, 2025. Madge Louise Tucker was born in Vienna, GA, on September 11, 1938, to Inez H. and Walter H. Tucker. She moved to Macon at age five and attended Charles H. Bruce Elementary School and Miller High School, graduating in 1957. In June 1958 she married Frank E. Byington at Hillcrest Methodist Church in Macon. They lived in Macon and in Jacksonville, FL, where they raised three children. She enjoyed playing tennis with friends, participated in school events with her children, was an avid lifelong reader, and enjoyed art, especially oil painting and pastels. After her husband retired from Sandoz Pharmaceuticals in 1990, she worked with him in establishing Wakefield Pharmaceuticals, based in Alpharetta, GA, and together they built the company until it was listed as one of the 500 fastest growing private companies in 1998 and 1999. They resided in Alpharetta and Roswell, GA, where Mr. Byington died in 2009. In February 2019, she married Jonathon Futch of Homerville, GA, where they primarily resided. She was a longtime member of Roswell Presbyterian Church. She has been an active supporter of Mercer University in Macon, including the athletics program, the College of Liberal Arts, and the Pharmacy School. She became an Alumna by Choice of Mercer University in 2014.

She is survived by her husband Jonathon; three children from her first marriage—Mark Byington of Boston, MA; Todd Byington of Asheville, NC; and Laurie Byington of Cumming, GA—a daughter-in-law, Tracy Byington, of Boston; a grandson, Charles Byington, also of Boston; and a stepson, Jason Futch, of Homerville.
