Lucille Murray

Lovey Lucille Corbitt Murray, 90, of Statham, GA passed away Friday evening (Dec. 3, 2021) at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Manor, GA to the late Walter Lewis and Mary Evelyn Nettles Corbitt. Ms. Murray lived in Ware County most of her life where she was a caregiver and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. When she was younger, she loved to dance and as she got older, she always enjoyed fishing and especially playing cards with family and friends. She was the biggest Atlanta Braves fan and her favorite player was Freddie Freeman.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Eric Wilkerson and Ashley Lee; three sisters, Muriel Irwin, Marie “Sis” Mixon, and Mary “Jig” Mason; twin brother, Louis “Buddy” Corbitt.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Cox (husband Randy) of Winterville, GA; three sons, Wayne Murray (wife Penny) of Waycross, Larry Murray of Blackshear, Michael Murray of Baxley; nine grandchildren, Amy Higgins (husband Brad) of Monroe, GA, Jason Kerr (wife Rachelle) of Jamestown, TN, Lisa Cox (husband Kenny) of Waycross, Alishia Darnell (husband Kelly) of North Carolina, Jamie Foster (husband Sam) of Haynesville, LA, Ethan Murray (wife Chandra) of Waycross, Eric Murray of Waycross, Michael Murray of Manor, and Shauna Murray of Waycross; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 pm at Camp Branch Providence Cemetery in Manor with her grandson, Pastor Jason Kerr officiating. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the cemetery beginning at 12:30 pm.
