Laura Lorean Cowart Register, 92, of Homerville passed away Tuesday evening (September 14, 2021) at her residence surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was born in Lowndes County to the late Dan and Laura Hughes Cowart. Mrs. Register lived most of her life in Homerville and worked for many years at Brockway Standard. She was a former member of New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Hahira and is a member of First Baptist Church and the Faith Builders Sunday School Class in Homerville. Lorean was a very special Lady with a very humble, loving, kind, and meek spirit. Her love for God and family was a driving force in her life and the influence that she had on her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends will be felt for many years to come. She is going to be missed.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Candler Register; two brothers, Herbert H. Cowart and Donald O. Cowart; six sisters, Lillian Cowart Goodyear, Lillie Pat Cowart Register, Ruth Cowart Spells, Pearl Cowart Scheffer, Myrtle Cowart Hughes, and Mary Lee Cowart Womack.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Janice Register, Randy and Martha Register, Dennis and Gayle Register, Dan and Paige Register all of Homerville; nine grandchildren, Jeff and Emily Register of Metter, GA, Jeremy and Alicia Register of Cordele, Maranda and Jonathan Lieupo of Homerville, Mollie and Michael Barnes of Valdosta, Derek and Kellie Register of Homerville, Laura and Joe Dittmer of Niceville, FL, Anna and Jessie Futch of Valdosta, Trent and Lindsey Register of Wilmington, NC, Blaire Register of Jacksonville, FL; sixteen great-grandchildren; Brantley, Ellis, Sumner, Jeffrey, and Candler Register; Cecily, Sullivan, and Oliver Lieupo; Maddie, Mara Claire, and Maggie Barnes; Emmalin, Nathan, and Luke Register; Charley and Brody Dittmer; sister-in-law, Margaret Cowart of Hahira; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Register was blessed to have wonderful Godly caregivers, Jennie Aldridge, Pat Bean, Ann Butler, Terry Gray, Paula Parrish, Donnie Register, and Juanita Sloan.
A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 pm at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm at the church.
