John David Powell, Sr.

Homerville

John David Powell, Sr., 81, of Homerville passed away Tuesday night, October 7, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Berrien County to the late Thomas W. Powell and Evelyn K. Martin. Mr. Powell lived in Homerville for most of his life and retired as a Correctional Officer for the State of Georgia. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Powell was a member of Shiloh Church and always enjoyed fishing and raising chickens and turkeys.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Powell; two brothers, Tim Powell and Roger Martin.

Survivors include two sons, John Powell, Jr. (Paula) of Homerville, Tim William Powell (Danielle) of Homerville; two daughters, Teresa Warren (Ben) of Nashville, and Amy Knight (Robert) of Homerville; seven grandchildren, Keiresten Thomas (William), Little John Powell, Shannon Powell, Josh Delk, Jaimie Delk, Ryan Palmer, and Caiden Fender; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Flint Powell of Nashville; one sister, Betsy Pervis (Michael) of Nashville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2025, at 2 pm at Refuge Church in Lakeland with Rev. Dennis Rowland officiating.
