John Daniel Davis III, age 59, of Homerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on December 8, 1966, in Homerville, Georgia, John was the son of John Daniel Davis Jr. (Dan) and Sharon Douglas Hollis.
John was a man of unwavering faith, strong convictions, and deep devotion to his family. He was a man of integrity who stood firm in his beliefs, valued honesty, and understood the importance of extending grace to others.
After graduating from Clinch County High School in 1985, John answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Upon completing his military service, he began a career with the Georgia Department of Corrections before transitioning into his role as a probation officer.
John also served on the Clinch County Board of Education and was a founding member of the Clinch County Recreation Board, where he faithfully served for many years. He also coached numerous Little League teams.
Throughout his career, John was respected for his fairness, integrity, and genuine desire to see others succeed. He believed in accountability, but he also believed deeply in redemption and second chances. John understood that a person's mistakes did not have to define their future, and he approached his work with the hope that those under his supervision could turn their lives around.
An avid outdoorsman, John had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors, whether spending time in the woods or enjoying a day on the water. Some of his most treasured moments were those spent sharing his love of the outdoors with his children. He made it a priority to take them hunting and fishing, passing down not only his knowledge and appreciation for nature but also memories and traditions they will carry with them for a lifetime.

Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his greatest earthly blessing, and he showed his love through his constant presence and unwavering support. He was the father who never missed a game, who showed up for his children, and who took pride in the people they became. His love was steady, his guidance was meaningful, and his devotion to his family never wavered.
John also valued the friendships he made throughout his life. A loyal and dependable friend, he was a man of his word. Though often quiet and reserved, he carried a strength and sincerity that earned the respect of those who knew him.
John attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Homerville. His belief in God and the promise of eternal life remained an important part of who he was.
Throughout his cancer journey, John showed incredible strength, courage, and determination. He was a fighter who faced challenges that tested even the strongest of individuals, demonstrating the resilience that defined him.
