Jerry “Chip” Altman, 45, of Fargo, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Clinch Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Waycross to Jerry and Daphene Shirley Altman, he lived in Fargo all of his life. Chip was a 1999 graduate of Clinch County High School, a self-employed beekeeper, and a member of Fargo Church of God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by an infant, Baby Altman; maternal grandparents, Billy and Phyllis Shirley; paternal grandparents, Reuben and Hattie Altman; three cousins, Lee McGowan, P.J. Henderson, and Tracee Brown.
Survivors include his wife Gail Sutton Altman of Fargo; one son, Drake Altman (Destiny Pittman) of Fargo; three daughters, Macey Altman (Nick Walthour) of Jesup, Morgan Altman of Homerville, and Halee Hillis (Dalton) of Statenville; four grandchildren, Kaeden Walthour, Korben Walthour, Hannah Hillis, and Melody Hillis; his parents, Jerry and Daphene Shirley Altman of Homerville; one sister, Heather Chamberlain (Chad) of Yulee, FL; two nieces, Isabella and Ally Chamberlain; his dog, Ellie “Bit Bits” Altman; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 12 pm at Fargo Church of God with Rev. Raymond Gabbard, Cary Kight, and Rev. Michael Taylor.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 am until 12 pm at Fargo Church of God.
