Janice Lanora Herrin Whittington Harper, 88, of Homerville passed away Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Homerville to the late Hoke and Cleo Corbitt Herrin and lived here all of her life. Mrs. Harper retired from B-Way as a Machine Operator. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mrs. Harper enjoyed crocheting, travelling, being with family and especially her grandchildren.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynn Whittington Baker; grandson, Michael Strickland; two sons-in-law, Steve Suggs and Joey Baker; three brothers and sister-in-law, Hoke Herrin, Jr., Bruce and Joann Herrin, and Raymond Herrin; sister-in-law, Brenda Herrin; brother-in-law, L.J. Briley.
Survivors include her husband, John Harper of Homerville; one daughter, Sissy Suggs of Homerville; two sons, Jimmy Harper of Homerville, and Johnny and Renee Harper of Nashville; five grandchildren, Nachelle Suggs of Homerville, Will and Ansley Suggs of Nashville, Edward Harper of Nashville, Ben Harper of Arkansas, and Bethany Hughes of Hazelhurst; eight great-grandchildren, Brady, Ashlynn, Alyssa, Ivey, Raylee, Layton, Rayce, and Kilynn; two brothers and sister-in-law, Johnny and Terry Herrin of Dublin, Dwight Herrin of Blackshear; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie and Lester Cribbs of Pearson, and Mildred Briley of Homerville; two sisters-in-law, Jean Herrin of Abbeville, AL, and Lounette Herrin of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at 11 am at Pine Forest Cemetery.
