James "Jimmy" Rigdon

July 7, 1942 — April 23, 2022

James Collier “Jimmy” Rigdon JR, 79, of Homerville passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, peacefully at his home surrounded by his beloved family after a short battle with cancer due to Lynch Syndrome.

He was born July 7, 1942, in Jacksonville, FL to the late James Collier Rigdon SR and Beulah Rigdon Ward. He resided in Clinch County most his life and was a deputy for the Clinch County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a beloved husband, father, and Grandad. He always had to have the last word and let them know “love you more” before they left.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his infant son, James Collier Rigdon III, daughter, Janene Rigdon Moore. Four brothers, Inslee Rigdon, Glen Rigdon, William “Bill” Rigdon, Robert Rigdon. Three sisters, Willa Deane Hoffman, Ivis Linday, Betty Chester.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Rogers Rigdon. Four daughters, Lisa (Steve) King of Homerville, Paulette (David) Stalvey of Homerville, Karen Douglas of Ray City, Mariah (Sean) White of Silverdale, WA, one son, Kaylon (Katie) Odom of Lake Park; fifteen grandchildren, Brian King of Homerville, Deanna (Sammy) Highsmith of Pickering, Ontario, Delaine Highsmith of Homerville, Brittney (Storm) Griffis of Homerville, Brittany (Jeff) Hefner of Waycross, Charles (Tempyest) Douglas III of Baumholder, Germany, Kathlyn King of Homerville, Josh (Katherine) Stalvey of Warner Robbins, Jaime (Danny) Sonnenberg of Greeley, CO, Kelli (Siara) O’Berry of Milliani, HI, Lynslee (Garrett) Douglas of Valdosta, Alex White of Silverdale, WA, Keaton Odom of Lake Park, Kason Odom of Lake Park, Kimber Odom of Lake Park; Eleven great grands, Kylee Hefner of Waycross, Matthew Douglas of Waycross, Emory King of Homerville, Trey King of Fargo, Makayla Shaw of Homerville, Noah Shaw of Homerville, Ryleigh Ballance of Homerville, Channing Hefner of Waycross,
Jack Griffis of Homerville, Sarah Hefner of Waycross, Clementine Douglas of Baumholder, Germany; two sisters, Billye Sue Rigdon Tomlinson of Fernandina, FL, and Sandra Cleveland of Colorado Springs, CO. A number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Along with all his honorary children and grandchildren through the years.

A graveside service will be held Monday morning, April 25, 2022, at 11 am at Shiloh Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Jimmy Rigdon to Place of Blessings Church of God in Argyle or Lighthouse Assembly of God in Homerville.
