Pearson, GA

Mr. James Elvoy “Jimmy” Parrish, 88, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, in the Hospice Satilla, Waycross, following a short illness.

Mr. Parrish was born in Jacksonville, FL, to the late James Wright “Jim” Parrish and Jewell Allen Parrish. He was a loving dad and grandpa ”Papa” to his kids and grandchildren. He was a beekeeper with his dad for several years. After leaving the bee keeping business he worked at B-Way in Homerville where he retired in 2000. He loved being outdoors no matter if it was fishing, gardening or simply sitting out in the sun. He loved animals and they always loved him. His favorite thing to do was to grab a box of chicken from Popeyes and go to Jekyll Island to eat at the picnic tables. He loved watching anything UFO related on TV or watching HeeHaw. Jimmy was a huge family man. He adored spending time with everyone. If you had a family get together you could always count on him being there. He just loved being around and helping everyone, especially his family. Anytime you asked him for help no matter how big or how small he was there.

He was preceded by the love of his life Rosa Myree Parrish, father, mother, three daughters: Sheila Peplinski, Cheryl Murray and Lucetta Murray; one son: Dewayne “Bear” Griffis; one sister; Gail Lee.

Survivors are nine grandchildren: Rhonda Burgeson, Cindy Robinson, Ronald Peplinski Jr., Barbara McCrea, Lashonda Crews, Cheryl Crews, Angie Crews, David Taylor and Timothy Peplinski; several great grandchildren and other relatives.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
