James Earl Humbers, 79, of Homerville went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. Mr. Humbers was born in Shelby, MS to the late Roy Earl Humbers and Sabra Emerline Glenn Humbers. He lived in Homerville most of his life where he retired from B-Way as a Mechanic. Mr. Humbers was a member of Charity Free Holiness Church. He always enjoyed working in his yards, fishing, going to flea markets, and especially spending time with his family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Henderson.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha Jo Pevy Humbers of Homerville; three children, Melissa Stephens (Van) of Homerville, Wesley Humbers (Lynn) of Homerville, Angela Humbers Pack (Greg Haugen of Valdosta) of Homerville; five grandchildren, Alisha and Josh Forsythe, Kristi and Danny Shaw, Heather and Brock Graddy, Johnny Lee and Maricia Thomas, Katie and Brian Vickers, all of Homerville; 14 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, C.M. Henderson of Homerville; two sisters-in-law, Jo Ellen Walker and Darlene Starling both of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Friday morning, January 19, 2024, at 11 am at the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
