James Newton Fitzgerald

James Newton Fitzgerald, of Homerville, Georgia, passed away on 9/26/2025, at the age of 80. Born on May 11, 1945, James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love for his family and strength of character shaped the lives of all who knew him.

A hardworking man with deep roots in the land, James spent his life working in pulpwood, turpentine, and farming. He took great pride in his work, and his dedication to providing for his family was unwavering.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Stokes Fitzgerald and George Colonel Delk; his brother, Buddy Fitzgerald; and his sister, Betty Jean Owen's.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fannie Lee Fitzgerald; his sons, John B. Fitzgerald ( Lena) and James Fitzgerald ( Kim); grandchildren, Heather Leann Fitzgerald, Julie Jiminez, George Fitzgerald, Jonathon Fitzgerald, Rob Fitzgerald, and Katie Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Mason Bennett, Woody Fitzgerald, Layton Bennett, Annaleigh Fitzgerald, and Matthew Fitzgerald all of Homerville.

James found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his great-grandbabies, who brought him endless happiness and pride. His quiet strength, kind spirit, and enduring love will be remembered always.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning, September 29, 2025 at 11 am at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will follow in Fitzgerald Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am Monday morning at the funeral home.
