Holloway Griffis

Holloway Griffis, 89, of Homerville passed away Friday afternoon, July 17, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Echols County to the late George and Mosedelle Pittman Griffis and lived in Homerville most of his life. Mr. Griffis served two years in the U.S. Navy. He worked numerous jobs cutting post and pulp wood, was a mechanic, and finally retired at the age of 81 from the Clinch County Road Department. Mr. Griffis attended New Vision Church of God. He was a loving father and grandfather and always enjoyed fishing, tinkering and fixing things.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Register Griffis; twin brother, Caroway Griffis; sister, Clennie Shell.

Survivors include daughters, Denise (Robin) Lee of Homerville, Carla (Cliff) King of Clarksville, FL, Denise (Mark) Smith of Homerville; sons, Buddy (Becky) Griffis of Fargo, Stanley (Natalie) Griffis of Blountstown, FL; adopted daughter, Carlene (Genaro) Trejo of Blountstown, FL; one sister Emma Lee Cribbs of Hilliard, FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026, at 11 am at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Baldree and Rev. Jimmy Spikes officiating. Burial will follow in North Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Clinch County Road Department and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:40 Tuesday morning for the service.
