Glenn Carl Chauncey, Jr., 69, of Byron, GA passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Georgia War Veterans Home after an extended illness. He was born in Homerville to the late Glenn Chauncey, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Dial Chauncey. Mr. Chauncey was a 1972 graduate of Clinch County High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1975 and lived in many places during his career and retired in 1996 at Moody Air Force Base. During his career he served in Desert Storm. After retirement, he was a City Marshall for the City of Valdosta for several years. Mr. Chauncey was always serious about his church, Covenant Life Cathedral in Macon, GA and his grandson, Dylan.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two wives, Nancy Marie Chauncey and Debra LaTrelle Chauncey.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Rodney Reading of Valdosta; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Yujin Chauncey of Scottsdale, AZ; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Rachel Bennett of Valdosta and Jeremy and Alana Bennett of Adel; three grandchildren, Dylan Reading, Elizabeth Chauncey, and Charlie Bennett; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Rick Catlett of Haynesville, GA, Brenda and Johnny Guy of Homerville, and Debbie and Jerry Norris of Macon, GA; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, August 20, 2024, at 11 am at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Homerville with Brother Damon Chauncey officiating. Burial will follow in Chauncey Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning beginning at 10 am at Bethel Church.
