Gary Allen McKown

March 26, 1952 — January 31, 2022

Gary Allen McKown, 69, of Lake Park, GA passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta after a brief illness. He was born in Cairo, GA to the late Joseph Franklin McKown and Elwanda Nix Cook. Mr. McKown was a Jehovah Witness and always enjoyed fishing, golfing, and camping.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Ruby “Dodie” Gilbert McKown; five children, Shalene McKown of Valdosta, Angela Brown of Raleigh, NC, Kellie McKown of Raleigh, NC, Stephen McKown of Atlanta Chasidy Keyser (Josh) of Michigan; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Jerry McKown (Leslie) of Cairo, GA; three sisters, Sherry Faircloth of Cairo, GA, Kerry Solomon (Barry) of Texas, Terry Lynn McDaniel (Gary) of Thomasville, GA; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorialization is by cremation.

A graveside service will be held, Sunday, February 6, 2022 at two o'clock in the Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.
