Jimmy Ferrell Smith, 68, of Homerville passed away Saturday (March 26, 2022) at South Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Tifton, GA to the late Richard and Mae Apperson Smith. Mr. Smith was in law enforcement for many years and lived in Sylvester, GA until moving to Homerville in 2001. While in Homerville he served in law enforcement and then was elected as Magistrate Judge and retired in 2018. He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Janet Faye Gallman Smith of Homerville; six children, Craig Folds (wife Jamie) of Calhoun, GA, Erik Barrera (wife Leah) of Woodstock, GA, Debbie New (husband Paul) of Jacksonville, FL, Gena Garrison of Jacksonville, FL, Jimmy Stalvey (wife Tonya) of Dupont, and Devaune Stalvey (wife Denise) of Dupont; seventeen grandchildren, Tanner, Brookelynn, Julia, Collin, Gavin, Jason, Landon, Caleb, Rachel, Amanda, Brian, Michael, Megan, Carra, Dillon, Melissa, and Mahlinda; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Davis (husband Mike) of Fitzgerald; two brothers, Larry Apperson (wife Sue) of Fitzgerald, and Roger Smith (wife Tammy) of Sumner, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 3 pm at Mt. Calvary Methodist Church Cemetery in Tifton, GA.
The family will receive friends Wednesday morning at the church beginning at 10 am.
