Everett W. Burnsed

Everett Waugh “Eveready” Burnsed, 80, of Lakeland passed away Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Berrien County to the late Willie B. and Alice Mae Griffin Burnsed and lived in Lanier County most of his life. He was a member of New Vision Church of God in Homerville. Mr. Burnsed owned and operated Burnsed Garage for many years, worked for the Lanier County Board of Education as a School Bus Mechanic and was a farmer. He could build anything with his hands and always enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Flora Gaskins, Debbie Studdard, Reba Davis, and Maxie Davis; two brothers, Malcolm Burnsed and Wendell Burnsed.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mattie Ann Brady Burnsed of Lakeland; two daughters and a son-in-law, Stephanie Ann and Robert Rogers of Quitman, and Dr. Annette Burnsed of Auburn, AL; two grandchildren, Hannah (Grant) Russell of Hahira, and Abigail Rogers of Quitman; two sisters, Doris Baldree of Homerville, and Margie Allen of Tifton; one brother, Maurice Burnsed (Barbara) of Nashville; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Saturday morning, September 26, 2026, at 10 am at Burnt Church Cemetery in Lanier County with Rev. Tyler Carter officiating.
