Evelyn Strickland Wilson, 83, of Homerville passed away Monday morning, November 3, 2025, at Vista Park in Douglas after an extended illness. She was born in Clinch County to the late Jessie Martin “J.M.” and Agnes Bennett Strickland. Mrs. Wilson lived in Clinch County all her life and worked several years at Standard Container on the line. She was a long-time member of Shiloh Church and Shiloh Ladies Prayer Band. Mrs. Wilson was also a former Pink Lady at Clinch Memorial Hospital, a member of the Red Hat Ladies, she is probably best remembered for the many years she shared in music with The Joyful Sound.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Jimmy Wilson of Homerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jerome Crosby of Willacoochee; one son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Dell Wilson of Homerville; four grandchildren, Jay and Vonda Crosby of Willacoochee, Tiffany and Andrew Tanner of Douglas, Jim and Jessi Brooke Wilson of Pearson, and John Michael Wilson of Homerville; six great-grandchildren, Tyson, Layla, Bella, Evelyn, Mason, and Brooks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John W. “Wink” and Nancy Strickland of Homerville, and Mike and Debbie Strickland of Homerville; several very special nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Thursday morning, November 6. 2025, at 11 am at Shiloh Church with Rev. Howard Slocumb officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
The family requests the Shiloh Ladies Prayer Band to serve as Honorary Pallbearers and should meet at the church by 10:40 am Thursday for the service. 3841 Shiloh Hwy., Homerville, GA 31634.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shiloh Ladies Prayer Band.
