Mr. Eugene Talmadge Rewis, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at his sister’s residence, Valdosta, following a short illness. Mr. Rewis was born April 15, 1934, in Echols County, to the late Joe Marion Rewis and Ola Petty Rewis. He was a member of the Fruitland Church of God and was retired from Terminal Paper Bag as a forklift driver. He drove the road grader for Echols County Road Department for several years. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Elizabeth Sistrunk Rewis; two sons: Steve Rewis and Stan Rewis; one sister and four brothers. Survivors are two daughters and son-in-law: Wanda & Ricky Daniels and Monica Ellis, both of Statenville; four sons and daughters-in-law: Dwight Rewis, Valdosta, Randy & Glenda Rewis, James Rewis, and Ryan & Megan Williamson, all of Statenville; one daughter-in-law: Barbara Rewis, Waycross; four sisters: Betty Joe Davis, Yulee, FL, Ora Lee Rhoden, Jacksonville, FL, Johnnie Bennett and Shirley Bradford, both of Valdosta; twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graveside services for Mr. Rewis will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020, in the Wayfare Church Cemetery, Echols County.
