Elijah Noel “Eli” Ellis, 26, of Homerville passed away Monday at Clinch Memorial Hospital after an unexpected death and has left many family and friends with saddened hearts. He was born in Valdosta and lived in Homerville most of his life. He was a 2014 graduate of Clinch County High School. Eli was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he received many awards including, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Nato Medal, and Air Assault Badge. He was attending Wiregrass Technical College and would have graduated in December with an associate degree in Computer Programming. Eli’s profession of his Christian faith and baptism occurred on September 16, 2007, at Homerville Free Will Baptist Church.
Eli was preceded in death by his father Paul Solomon Ellis; maternal grandfather, Jesse Lawrence Booth, Sr.; paternal grandfather, William Ellis; an uncle, Jesse Booth, Jr. and an aunt, Jessica Ann Booth.
Survivors include his mother, Nicki Booth Ellis of Homerville; one sister, Emmy Ellis of Homerville; two brothers, Nicholas Ellis of Homerville and Noah Ellis of Orlando; maternal grandmother, Helen S. Booth of Homerville; paternal grandmother, Myrtice Ellis of Castleberry, AL; aunts and uncles, Martha and Randy Register of Homerville, Cindy and Neil Spivey of Willacoochee, Lawrence Booth, III of Bristol, GA, Jim and Lisa Ellis of Paducah, KY, and Keith and Evelyn Pate of Montgomery, AL; numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11 am at Homerville Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning beginning at 10 am at the church.
