Edith Nell Cason Delk

December 16, 1942 — June 14, 2022

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Edith Nell Delk’s Savior and Heavenly Father welcomed her into her new home in Heaven. She passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Edith Nell, 79, was born December 16, 1942, in Clinch County, Georgia to the late George W. Cason and Blanche Griffis Cason. She grew up in Clinch County and was a high school graduate and deeply loved by her family. She married the love of her life, Bruce Delk, at age 21 on June 17, 1964. Her first priority in life other than the Lord was him. As the saying goes, “she waited on him hand and foot” and wouldn’t have it any other way. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2020. Edith Nell spent her adult life in Homerville and started her working career at Young’s Dime Store. On February 21, 1966, she started work at B-Way Corporation and retired on October 17, 2011, after 45 years and 8 months of service. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. She also baked with her sister Sarah Belle every Christmas. The people of Homerville looked forward to the divinity and jellies they made and shared.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Delk; stepson, Roy Delk; stepdaughter, Sherrie Delk Corbitt; one sister, Sarah Belle Booth; one brother, L.C. Cason; one nephew, Wendell Booth.

Survivors include three stepchildren, Donna D. Naramore (husband Wayne) of Blakely, Pamela Farr (husband George) of Blackshear, Gary Delk (wife Linda) of Homerville; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; one niece, Rita Spike (husband Danny) of Pearson, GA; two nephews, Louie Cason (wife Gayle) of Homerville, and Deryl Booth (wife Jane) of Eastover, SC.
