Earnest William Nelson, 78, of Fargo passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Walton County, FL to the late Earnest Kinsey and Daisy Yawn Nelson and moved to Fargo in 1962. Mr. Nelson was in the logging business all of his life, starting as a Pulpwooder and retired as the owner of Nelson Logging. He was a member of Fargo Church of God and the Fargo Hunting Club. Mr. Nelson always enjoyed hunting and spending time on the hunting club.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Nelson, Lounette Stevens, Myrtice Lane, Anna Lou Rhoden; one brother, Bearnest Nelson.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ester Willis Nelson; two sons, Rodney Nelson (wife Angela) and Diggem Nelson (wife Betty) all of Fargo; four grandchildren, Alexis Nelson, Kansas Nelson, Nick Wyers, and Santana Wyers; two sisters, Judy Pittman of Fargo, and Janice James (husband Albo) of Fargo; one brother, Glynn Nelson (wife Pam) of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 pm at Fargo Church of God. Burial will follow in Fargo Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
