Dorothy Ruth Smith Wilson, 86, of Homerville passed away Sunday evening (Jan. 2, 2022) at Langdale Hospice after a short illness. She was born in Clinch County to the late Dewey and Nancy Ola Smith and lived here most of her life. Mrs. Wilson was a faithful member of Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. More importantly, she had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That showed in her kindness and love towards other people. She worked at Slash Pine EMC and retired after many years of service to keep her grandchildren Madison and Zeke whom she loved dearly. She spent her last few years living with her daughter and son in law in Hahira. She loved to sit on the front porch in her rocker and watch the birds and other wildlife. She loved the many visits she received while in Hahira. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Lamar Wilson; five brothers, Haskel Smith, Grover Smith, Lois Smith, D.O. Smith, and Sedgewick Smith; one sister, Kate Shaw.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelley North and her husband Jim of Hahira; one son, Jason Wilson and his wife Angie of Homerville; two grandchildren, Madison Wilson and Zeke Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm at Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
