Doris Hendrix Peek, 89, of Homerville passed away Monday morning, June 8, 2026, at Clinch Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Clinch County to the late Farley H. Hendrix and Lottie Mae Pittman Hendrix. Mrs. Peek lived in Jacksonville, FL for several years and lived in Homerville for most of her life. She was a lunchroom lady at Clinch County High School and always enjoyed cooking and taking care of her grandchildren and any children in the community.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lawrence Peek, Sr.; two sisters, Dollie Mae Murphy and Verdie Walker; five brothers, Huey Hendrix, Sammie Hendrix, Sherman Hendrix, Lois Hendrix, and Robert Hendrix.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mason Moore of Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Barbara Peek of Homerville; six grandchildren, John “J.B.” Peek of Jacksonville, Jason Peek of Jacksonville, Lorinda Becton (Phil) of Waycross, Byron Stalvey of Homerville, Bunky Moore (Peggy) of Homerville, and Gina Taylor of Nashville; 15 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Horace Hendrix of Homerville, and Hubert Hendrix (Bronna) of Homerville; one sister, Maybelle Harper of Oneida, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Thursday morning, June 11, 2026, at 10 am at Shiloh Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Roundtree Funeral Home.
