Donnie Schmidt

Donald Albert “Donnie” Schmidt, II, 58, of Homerville passed away Thursday (May 27, 2021) at his residence peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Donald Albert Schmidt, Sr. and Barbara Ann Kinmartin Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt lived in Florida many years where he served as Mayor of Edgewater, FL for two terms. He was an Eagle Scout, Florida Gator fan, and attended Grace Church in Orlando, FL. While living in Homerville he worked at the Clinch County Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher. Mr. Schmidt enjoyed collecting baseball cards, stamps, coins, and hippos.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Anne Schmidt.

Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Ellison (husband Joshua) of Oviedo, FL; two grandchildren, Ryan Ellison and Dylan Ellison; two sisters, Deborah Hillman (husband Kenneth) of Homerville, and Julie Casey (husband Michael) of Burlington, NC; family friend, Tanya Robbins of Edgewater, FL; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 pm at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
