Dalton Gage James

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dalton Gage James, born June 9, 1997, who left us suddenly on September 19, 2025. Gage was a cherished son, brother, uncle, grandson, and nephew whose warm spirit and infectious laugh touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Gage is survived by his loving parents, Mark James of Fargo and Kimberly & Derek Royals of Douglas; his siblings, Ashley Fricke (Codey) of Lakeland, Annalise James of Lakeland, and Gavin Starr of Douglas; his grandparents, Alvin “Albo” and Janice James of Fargo and Wayne and Kay Townsend of Fargo; and his nieces and nephews, Dawson and Millie Fricke and Ny’Khari Bacon. He will be missed by aunts and uncles Laverne and Chuck Scroggins of Milton, FL, Darrell “Boot” Lawson of Homerville, Dewayne “Sug” and Teresa James of Fargo, Chris and Linda “Lady” Burch of Fargo, Earnest “T. Bass” and Barbara James of Fargo, and Jason McCain of Fargo. His many cousins were dearly loved. He also leaves behind his dog, Pup Pup, who was always by his side, and special friend Heather Adams. He had more friends than we can count, and we are forever grateful for the happiness they brought him.

Gage’s heart belonged to the outdoors, and he could most often be found running dogs, hunting deer, or fishing with family and friends. He found his greatest joy in the woods around Fargo. His easygoing nature made him a friend to many, and he always brought light and laughter to those around him. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon, September 24, 2025, at 3 pm at Fargo Church of God with Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Fargo Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 pm until 3 pm at Fargo Church of God.
