Charlotte Land Williams

January 19, 1929 — April 9, 2020

Charlotte Land Williams, age 91, of Homerville, GA, passed away of a sudden illness Thursday in the early morning hours . Charlotte was born and grew up in Athens, Georgia. She was the "middle child" of four siblings: one older brother, Oliver Land (deceased), an older sister, Gloria Land Johnson (deceased), and a younger sister, Joyce Land Fendig. She was a talented artist and studied art at the University of Georgia. Although she dropped out during her sophomore year to marry the love of her life, Hank Williams, she continued to draw and paint for most of her life. She was only 19 when she married Hank, but she knew he was the one. They were married until he passed away in 2006. They lived most of their lives together in Waycross and Homerville. They loved to travel and after Hank retired, they took up scuba diving, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They had always loved watching "Lloyd Bridges Sea Hunt" and "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau" on TV and promised each other that one day they would learn to dive. Weekend trips to different dive locations became their favorite pastime. They also enjoyed traveling with Charlotte's sisters Gloria and Joyce and their husbands. Elder Hostels were another favorite until Hank became ill and could no longer travel. Summers were spent at the family cabin on Lake Rabun in the North Georgia mountains. We all loved gathering there for 4th of July with aunts and uncles, cousins and kids. Charlotte loved the mountains and swimming in the lake. Charlotte loved flying to Norway to visit Ellen and her grandchildren. Ellen married a Norwegian in 1980 and has made her home there since then. She and Hank would fly over together every four years or so, but Charlotte would also visit once a year and enjoyed being "Nana" to her grandchildren. In Norway we have a saying "She was full of days", which I think suits our mother to a tee. Wylder and Karen and I are thankful for all the kind wishes and prayers we have been receiving. Charlotte is survived by: One daughter, Ellen and her husband Arne One son, Wylder and his wife Karen One Grandson Nils Henry and his wife Shengtian, and their children Edvard and William One Granddaughter Hanne and her husband Stefan and their children Lucas and Emily Her sister Joyce and her husband Albert of St. Simons Island, GA Five nieces and one nephew with families. Due to the Coronavirus there will be no visitation or service at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Homerville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 145, Homerville, GA, 31634. Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net. Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
