Carolyn Spivey Mikell

Carolyn Spivey Mikell, 84, of Homerville passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Axson, GA to the late Curtis and Myrtle Spivey. Ms. Mikell graduated from Atkinson High School, Waycross Vocational School, South Georgia College with an associate degree in Nursing and a graduate of Ware Tech as a Basic EMT.  Ms. Mikell accomplished all of the degrees while working at Clinch Memorial Hospital and retired after 32 years of service. She later worked at the nursing home with 3 years of service. Ms. Mikell always enjoyed watching sports on TV, Music, flea markets, and garage sales. She was a longtime member of Axson Evangelistic Church and attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Mikell; one sister, Betty Burch.

Survivors include one son, Tony Mikell (wife Sherri) of Homerville; nephews, Luke Burch (wife April), Hank Burch (wife Tracy); nieces, Mary Hannah Mills and Emma Burch.

A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 pm at Trinity Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2 pm at the church.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
