Billy Joe Lee

Mr. Billy Joe Lee, 72, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, in the V. A. Medical Center Hospital, Gainesville, FL, following a short illness.

Mr. Lee was born, July 13, 1948, in, Homerville, GA to the late Edgar Lee and Jewell Estell Cox Lee. He was retired from the Georgia State Department of Transportation and was a member of the Homerville United Methodist Church, where he helped with the Boy Scouts and was attending the Higher Heights Christian Fellowship, Fargo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Louise Gillstrap, Jean Lee and Gwen Hooper; one son-in-law: Leapoldo Aquirres; a sister-in-law: Myrna Ann Lee and the mother of his children: Brenda Lee.  

Survivors are his wife: Frances Singletary Lee, Homerville; one daughter: Loretta Christene Lee Aquirres, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law: Joseph Dewayne & Michelle Lee, Blackshear; two step-daughters and sons-in-law: Dawn & Robert Lanier, Millwood and Iris & Billy Smith, Homerville; one step-son and daughter-in-law: Charles & Miranda Odom, Homerville; two brothers and sister-in-law: Thomas Lee, Homerville and Gerald & Nancy Lee, Florida; two brothers-in-law: David Hooper, Arkansas, and Robert Lee, Homerville; ten grandchildren: Annabeth Lee, Marissa Lee, Christian R. Aquirres, Angelica R. Aquirres, Alyssa Lanier, Nicholas Lanier, Alyvia Lanier, Aubrey Smith, Jaycee Odom and Caleb Odom; one great grandchild: Perseus Robinson;  a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Lee will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at eleven o’clock in the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Arabia Cemetery.
