Mrs. Alma Lee Bennett Backhus, 84, passed away, Thursday, October 18, 2018, in the Langdale Hospice House, Valdosta, Ga, following a short illness.   Mrs. Backhus was born October 5, 1934, in Homerville, GA to the late Redding Bennett and Marie Kight Bennett. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Daisy Luke, Letha Bennett Howling, Elma Grant and Thelma Bennett; two brothers: Earnest Bennett and Henry Bennett.   Survivors are one son: Carl Burkett, Ray City, GA; two daughters and a son-in-law: Lorraine O’Neal and Laura Lee & Mike Calvert, both of Hahira, GA; one sister: Marylin Swearingen, Homerville; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.   Funeral services for Mrs. Backhus will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at two o’clock at the Roundtree Funeral Home Chapel.   Interment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.   Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net.   Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
