Viola (Vic) Martin

Homerville, GA Mrs. Viola Martin (Vic), 94, of Homerville, Ga, passed away peacefully at Clinch Healthcare Center on Saturday evening, February 20, 2010 after an extended illness. Mrs. Martin was born in Swainsboro, GA on April 2, 1917, to the late Viola & John McKiever. She later moved to New York, NY where she lived most of her life and where she met and married Charles Martin. There were no Children in this marriage. Sometime after his death, Viola moved to Jacksonville, FL to be close to family. Due to declining health, she lived in nursing homes before being transferred to Clinch Healthcare Center. Preceded in death were her parents; loving husband: Charles Martin; brothers: James McKiever & Harvey McKiever; sisters: Johnnie Baker, Lucy McKiever, Rosella Ryans, & Dida Barnes; nephew: Louis McKiever. Viola is survived by her last and remaining sister: Tomia L. Lanear; nephews: Eugene McKiever, Benjamin Lanear, James Lanear, Lynn Lanear, Jackie Lanear, & Ahmed Muhammad Lanear; nieces: Valisha Jones & Brenda Lanear, & several other relatives. The family and all that knew Aunt Viola will miss her captivating smile and her easy going and gracious personality. She will forever be in our hearts and will be missed and loved always. Graveside services for Viola will be held Friday, February 26, 2010, at two o'clock from Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from the Roundtree Funeral Home, Friday, February 26, 2010, from 12 til time of service.
