Homerville, GA Mrs. Shirley Joyce Young Sandlin, 63, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017, at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Sandlin was born August 21, 1953, in Moline, Illinois, to the late J. D. Young and Barbara Jean Colburn Gilberth. She had worked as a nursing aid, and was a member of the Shiloh Church. She had baby sitted a lot of children in Homerville. Survivors are her step-father: James Gilberth, Homerville; three sisters: Judy Smith, Sulegent, AL, Sandy Stewart and Diane Sweat, both of Homerville; two brothers: James Earl Gilberth, Atlanta, and Ray Gilberth, Hazlehurst, GA; special friend: Heath Thompson, Homerville; special sister: Jenny Griffin, Homerville, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial services for Mrs. Sandlin will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at two o’clock from the Shiloh Church. Memorialization will be by cremation.
