J. C. "Jake" Welch

Fargo, GA Mr. J. C. “Jake” Welch, 76, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness. Mr. Welch was born Mar. 22, 1940, in Brooks County to the late L. D. Welch and Katie Lou Johnson Welch. He had worked as a logger for many years and was a member of the Fargo Church of God. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors are his wife: Ione Pittman Welch, Fargo; three sons and daughters-in-law: Ray & Pam Welch, Henry & KJo Welch all of Homerville and Stacey & Victoria Welch, Jesup, GA; one sister & brother-in-law: Hazel & Wendell Manning, Morven, GA; ten grandchildren: Cody Welch, Brooklyn & Dustin Burch, Brittany Welch & fiancé Will Steedley, Ashlyn Welch, Kendell Welch, Wyatt Welch, Dakota Welch and Cameron Welch; a number of nieces & nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Welch will be held Friday, April 1, 2016, at two o’clock in the Fargo Church of God. Interment will be in the Fargo Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Mar. 31, 2016, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Welch will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
