Elton "Donnie" Burney

Blackshear, GA Mr. Elton “Donnie” Burney, 65, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness. Mr. Burney was born Dec. 17, 1949, in Waycross, GA to the late Harris Green Burney and Mary Bell Shepherd Burney. He was a self-employed mechanic and was preceded in death by one brother: Wayne Burney. Survivors are his wife: Nancy Hensley Burney, Blackshear; one son: Robert Burney, Blackshear; five sisters and brother-in-law: Louise “Sissy” Hall, Blackshear, Janice & Isiah Taylor, Mary Ann Dell, Aline Jones and Gloria Jean Oliver, all of Waycross; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Harris Green “Sonny” & Jean Burney, Webster, FL, James “Buck” & Helen Burney, Blackshear, Robert & Jesse Simmons, Callahan, FL and Jimmy Simmons, Waycross; one grandson: Blake Edward Burney, Blackshear; a special cousin: Juanita Pittman, Fargo and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Burney will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at eleven o’clock in the chapel of Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross, GA. Interment will be in the New Home Cemetery, Offerman, GA. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2015, from 6 til 8 p.m. at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home, Waycross, GA.
