Audrey Roberta Harvey Chisholm

October 25, 1927 — January 21, 2015

Mrs. Audrey Roberta Harvey Chisholm, 1927-2015, Indianapolis, formerly of Homerville, GA, died peacefully January 21st at the Hearth at Windermere, Indianapolis, Indiana, where she had been a resident for over eight years. Audrey was born and raised on Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada. Even though she was not originally from the South, she was truly a Southern Lady. Audrey was the widow of the late Dr. Lewis F. Chisholm of Homerville. She was very active in the community and loved her church, Homerville United Methodist Church. A "dyed-in-the-wool" Methodist-----she loved singing in the Choir and being involved with anything going on at the church. She knitted hundreds of Christmas Stockings for the annual Church Bazaar. Many, many mantles are adorned at Christmastime with "Miss Audrey's" stockings. Both she and Dr. Chisholm were extremely active in the Scouting Program. Audrey was honored by the Boy Scouts of America with the Silver Antelope Award, which “recognizes Scout leaders of exceptional character who have provided distinguished service within a region." She and Dr. Chisholm also loved supporting the community and its young people. They could be seen serving in the concession stand at Friday night ballgames. Audrey was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from the Toronto General Hospital nursing program in Toronto, Canada. She worked alongside her husband, Dr. Chisholm, at Robbins Clinic in Homerville. She loved being a nurse and worked tirelessly providing nursing care and love for the Homerville Community. She will be deeply missed by her children and their spouses and families, Lewis F. Chisholm Jr, (Alexa), Grandchildren Daniella (Bob Denison and great grandson, Rivers Denison), Jonathan, Andrea, Natalie and Melanie: William C. Chisholm M.D., (Charo) and son Bucky: and daughter, Stephanie Chisholm Reed, (Scott) and sons Dan and Frank. Audrey was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Roberta Harvey of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada. She will also be missed by her sisters Hildred (Richard Nason), Mary (Bill Young) and Ruth (Phillip Cooper), and sisters-in-law Elin (Don Southerland), Bette (Harold Riker) and Joan Harvey as well as a host of cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Scott Harvey, and sisters Margaret (Neil Ingersoll), Christine (John Mosgrove), and great granddaughter, June Denison. Visitation will be on Friday, January 30th from 6-8 pm at Roundtree Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 am at Homerville United Methodist Church with Reverend James Davis officiating, assisted by Reverend Dan Underwood. Interment will follow at Pine Forrest Cemetery, Homerville, GA. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Dr. Lewis F. and Audrey H. Chisholm Healthcare Scholarship. The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to the youth of Clinch County, GA for their higher education in Heathcare. Donations may be sent in care of: The Community Foundation of South Georgia, P. O. Box 2654, Thomasville, GA 31799 or online http://www.cfsga.net/scholarships.htm.
