Dr. Justo Fernando Cabral, Jr.

Valdosta, GA Dr. Justo Fernando Cabral, Jr., age 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, January 25, 2014, in Valdosta, Georgia following a brief illness. Dr. Cabral was born on April 2, 1944 in Manila, Philippines, to the late Dr. Justo Mariano Cabral, Sr. and Mrs. Socorro Fernando Cabral. He received his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Dr. Cabral was married to the late Josephine Carracedo Cabral on July 1, 1972 in the Philippines and they later immigrated to the United States. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Cabral practiced as a family physician in Homerville, Georgia and held the position of Chief of Staff at Clinch County Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cabral previously practiced in Valdosta, Georgia, Statenville, Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta. Dr. Cabral was a devoted father, husband and physician. He was preceded in death by his dear wife Josephine Carracedo Cabral; his youngest son Jonathan Carracedo Cabral; and a brother Jesus Fernando Cabral. Dr. Cabral is survived by his loving children: his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica & Beau Odom, Atlanta; and two sons and a daughter-in-law, Justin & Christine Cabral and Mike Cabral, all of Valdosta. He is also survived by two brothers, Wilfredo Cabral, Chicago, IL, and Anthony Cabral, Philippines; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral mass for Dr. Cabral will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at twelve o'clock at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Valdosta. A private family interment service will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery, Homerville. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dr. Cabral's memory to the Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Dr., Valdosta, GA 31602.
