James "Jimmy" Jsoeph Herndon, Jr.

DuPont, GA Mr. James Joseph “Jimmy” Herndon, Jr., 61, passed away suddenly, Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in the Clinch Memorial Hospital. Mr. Herndon was born Dec. 23, 1951, in Homerville to the late James Joseph Herndon, Sr. and Mary Kate Morgan Herndon. He was retired from the Military Benefits Association, as an insurance salesman and attended the Homerville First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. Survivors are his wife, Gloria McLeod Herndon, DuPont; two sons & daughters-in-law: James J. & Shannon Herndon, III, Dallas, GA and Dennis P. & Casey Herndon, Valdosta; two step daughters and a step son-in-law: Anglia Carroll & Lee Hunt, Moultrie and Jamie Carroll, Waycross; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Herndon will be held Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at three o’clock from the Homerville First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Herndon will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
