James "Jimmy" Edward Turner

Mr. James Edward “Jimmy” Turner, 82, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 in the Mayo Clinic, Waycross, following an extended illness. Mr. Turner was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Clinch County to the late Holland Turner and Willow Capps Turner. He was retired from GATX with 35 years of service as a tank car repairman and locomotive operator and was a member of the Victory Methodist Church, Manor. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was preceded in death by one brother: Charlton Turner; two sisters: Sadie Jane Smith and Louise Davis and one uncle: Sam Turner. Survivors are his wife: Wanda Iona Henderson Turner, Homerville; one son: Kevin Turner, Homerville; one sister: Sherma Ree Smith, Savannah; two grandchildren: Tina & Jeffrey Lane, Fargo and Daniel Turner, Waycross; one great grandchild: Bailey Rowan; two step great grandchildren: Jacob Lane & Taylor Lane: and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Turner will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at eleven o’clock from the Victory Methodist Church, Manor. Interment will be in the Victory Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Turner will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Victory Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 2, Manor, GA 31550.
