John "Mac" Alfred McGhee

Homerville, GA Mr. John Alfred “Mac” McGhee, Sr., 74, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, following an extended illness. Mr. McGhee, was born April 7, 1939 in Washington, D.C. to the late Aaron O’Neal McGhee, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Evans McGhee. He was a self-employed mechanic and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by: his wife: Mary Louise Shaver McGhee; three sons: John Alfred McGhee, Jr., Thomas Edward McGhee, William Mac Daniel O’Neal McGhee; one daughter: Mary Marie McGhee; one sister: Alice Jacobs. Survivors are three daughters: Rosemary Marie McGhee, Homerville, Eva Catherine McGhee & Donny Shreve, Vincennes, Indiana and Samajun Edith McGhee Wiggins & Dewayne Smith, Homerville; one son: Elton Potter McGhee, New Mexico; two-daughters-in-law: Holly Alvord, Vincennes, Indiana and Toby McGhee, Sarasota, FL; three sisters: Sandy Merino & Patty Yarwig, Virginia and Shirley Wheeler, Colorado; one brother: John D. McGhee, Virginia; 29 grandchildren: Joseph F. & Sarah A. Walker, Jr., Aaron O. & Tanya W. Walker, John & Crystal Walker, Edwin D. & Kelly Walker, Jason A. Taylor, Niki Hanner, Jesse James McGhee, Emma Kearnes, Bobby James McGhee, Mikeal Tyler Wiggins, Catherine, Shreve, all of Homerville, John A. & Andrea McGhee, III, Sara McGhee, Thomas, J. C. McGhee, Mary J. Wiggins, John A. Young, Ellen A. Young, James Robarts, David Mac Young, Angel Reinhardt, Britteny Young, all of FL, Crystalyn M. McGhee, Donnie Jay Shreve, Jr. Liva McGhee, Jason Alvord, Shannon Alvord and Pete Troy McGhee all of Indiana; 28 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial services for Mr. McGhee will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at two o’clock from the Trinity Baptist Church. Memorialization will be by cremation. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family in care of Roundtree Funeral Home, P.O. Box 301, Homerville, Georgia, 31634 to help defray funeral expenses.
