Homerville, GA Mr. Benjamin Bruce Smith, 90, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 in the Baptist Village Nursing Home, Waycross, following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born Nov. 1, 1922 in Homerville, GA to the late Benjamin Franklin Smith and Rebecca Delk Smith. He lived all of his life in Clinch County and was maintenance supervisor for the Clinch County Board of Education for many years. He attended the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Elowine Marie Morgan Smith, one son-in-law: Donald W. Morrison; two brothers: Willie 5/8 Smith and Neil C. Smith. Survivors are his wife: Rachel Holton Smith, Jacksonville, FL; two daughters and a son-in-law: Patsy S. & Willis Bennett, Manor and Connie S. Morrison, Argyle; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Johnny & Vivian Smith, Homerville and Dr. Terry Smith, Thomasville; eight grandchildren: Hugh & Cheryl Bennett, Kathy B. & Mike Yawn, Lisa M. & Lance Heard, Amy M. & Stephen Crosby, Don & Donna Morrison, Craig & Melissa Smith, Josh & Crystal Smith and Becky S. & Caleb Powell; twenty one great grandchildren: Coleson Bennett, Hailee Bennett, Ansley Bennett, Eason Bennett, Josh Peagler, Chase Peagler, Will Yawn, Drew Yawn, Kate Yawn, Tyler Heard, Garrett Heard, Reece Heard, Garrison Crosby, Benjamin “Ben” Crosby, Logan Morrison, Lauren Morrison, Lacey Morrison, Katherine Smith, Jonathaqn Smith and Lexie Smith; one great great grandchild: Hayden Wildes and a number of other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at eleven o’clock from the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 til 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Smith will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
